Environment, Water And Conservation

Charity brings to life again those who are spiritually dead.

Thomas Aquinas

Kenya faces the growing challenge of providing its human population with adequate clean water and sanitation and a sustainable environment. A key focus of IFD is building the capacity of youths, institutions, and communities to incorporate environmental conservation, water access, and safety to ensure sustainability and improved sanitation.

IFD targets communities and conducts projects on water catchment areas protection and conservation. This helps improve the quality and quantity of water from these sources and hence increases access to potable water mostly by rural communities. Protection of forests and rehabilitation of drylands is also a major focus of our organization. To achieve this, IFD is working collaboratively with local government agencies, private sector companies, and hundreds of communities. Our combined approach contributes to the fight against environmental deterioration and lack of access to water and sanitation among our communities.

Our Projects

  • Adopt a forest: This activity area entails promoting forest conservation and management as well as rehabilitation of degraded forest areas by supporting initiatives such local enterprises in tree nurseries establishment and management, tree growing activities etc Initiating tree planting initiatives in encroached areas of forests.  Tree planting activities will also be done in water catchment areas and even in schools.
  • Recycling and waste management: This entails promoting local enterprises in recycling and activating resource/waste value chains. Working together with local stakeholders already in this space we will be able to increase the rate of recycling and waste management activities and also engage the community on matters concerning environment protection.
  • The Power project: This activity area aims at promoting access and adoption and use of renewable energy technologies and energy conservation activities. As we move towards more renewable form of energy due to climate change. This project is timely and will go a long way in empowering especially the youth towards innovating more sustainable forms of energy
